"Junior" was a very special foal. He was born to a wonderful trakhener mare, Foremost. Although his name, Appaira Britches was picked out long before he was born, he was called "junior" while in utero. The name stuck. At maturity Junior was a mere 14:2. It is unknown why he never grew any larger. His parentage would have predicted his maturity at 15:3 or more. None the less, he had a heart of gold, and the most wonderful disposition.
He had a very inquisitive nature.
Junior as a two year old. He loved to jump and showed this by continually going around and around, without any requests from his handlers as a youngster.
Juniors movement was truely poetry in motion. It is such a regret to me that he died before he was ever shown under saddle, and that his grace and elegance was never seen by the general public. It was a priveledge to have been able to watch him on so many occasions, trotting and cantering around the field.
Junior and I, along with several other young horses and ponies, enjoyed a trip to Devon in 1994. I proudly recieved the 8th place ribbon in the breeders group. Junior, Tips, Knickie, and Britney helped me achieve that honor.
Junior sired several horses at Liberty Run Stables. Although he was a small horse himself, his offspring were full size, one son growing to an easy 16:2. He passed on his desire to jump to his many sons and daughters.
